Mission
Statement:
Clinton Youth Hockey League (CYHL), is designed to provide an improved foundation for the growth and development of area children. Designing programs aimed at increasing participation, improved skills and a responsible environment for the conduct of youth hockey.
Guidelines:
• Provide a safe and healthy
environment for all.
• An opportunity for all new
players who wish to play hockey.
• Fair and equal opportunity
for all who wish to participate in our sport.
• An opportunity to learn the
basic skills without an over emphasis on winning.
• A philosophy which attempts
to reduce the number who become disenchanted and drop out.
• An opportunity for those who
wish to advance in a more competitive environment to do so.
• Create an environment that
encourages parent participation in the operation of the organization.
• Qualified adult leadership.
Categories
of Play:
1. Initiation – Designed to meet the needs of the beginning player. Basic skills will be taught equally in a non-competitive
environment. Fun, physical development
and a sociable environment should be stressed.
2. Recreational – The backbone of our program, encourages, internal and house league
play. This program is designed to
provide opportunities to play for enjoyment, fitness, relaxation and
fellowship. Skill development and team
concept should be stressed rather than winning.

3. Tournament Bound – Well qualified coaches teach higher level skill development for players who have the desire and
ability for a competitive experience.
Balance of winning and sportsmanship is stressed, and travel for
tournament bound should be reasonable.
Team objectives include sectional, state and national championships.

Recommendations: (Except

Practice
time should be stressed above game time.
•
Support
USA Hockey's recommended practice to game ratio of 2-1.

Teams
shall not begin playing games prior to:
Initiation – Learn to Skate and D Mites, only fun program
competition (no formal hockey games).
Recreational – No games starting prior to November 1, or 20 days
from start of season.
- A Mites - Midgets -
no games shall start prior to November 1.
- B Mites – no games until December
1.
- C Mites – no games until January 1.
Tournament Bound – No games until 10 days from start of
season.
