Dear Clinton Youth Hockey Community,

Today, I write to share with you important information about the upcoming season. We ask that you read and consider the information in this email very carefully as the health and safety of our players is paramount.

In accordance with New York State guidelines, the Clinton Arena has set new requirements in place. The information is as follows:

  • Delayed start until November 2nd, 2020.
  • No more than twenty (20) individuals will be allowed inside the arena at one time. This number includes players and coaches. Spectators are not permitted at this time.
  • Temperatures will be taken at the door prior to each player's entry.
  • There will be a sign in sheet or electronic form (we do not know which yet) that will need to be signed prior to each player's entry for health screening and contact tracing.
  • Individuals experiencing or exhibiting symptoms will not be permitted entrance.
  • Players must enter the arena through the front doors and exit through the side door into the parking area.
  • All persons inside the arena must exit after each time slot.
  • Locker rooms will not be used.
  • Players must arrive fully dressed in equipment.
  • Masks will be worn by anyone not already wearing their helmet.
  • Helmets with face shields are strongly recommended.
  • The Pro Shop will be made available by appointment only.
  • The time between ice slots will extend from 10 to 30 minutes to allow for proper disinfection.

After careful consideration of the arena's new operational rules, we remain committed to developing a plan that allows your player to skate this season. Though we will have to give up some things we have come to expect from our typical season, if we steadfastly adhere to the requirements outlined above, we may still benefit from this season.

It is important to remember that our plans to return to ice are predicated on the information we receive from the Clinton Arena. While NYSAHA is currently allowing non-competitive hockey, we must also work within the guidelines the arena provides. Given the current occupancy restriction in place, we believe offering practices/clinics/scrimmages by level is most sensible at this time. That said, if things change for the better and we are allowed competitive play, we will reassess our current model/schedule to accommodate games (provided the arena is able to increase the occupancy limit).

We are currently in the process of adjusting our registration fees. Once we have finished making alterations, registration will be released. Individuals who have already registered will be contacted about their options.

It is a unique situation we find ourselves in this season. Fluidity complicates things, but we are up to the challenge! We will need a little more patience, flexibility, and support from one another this season, but this is a Hockeyville community- our players will skate!

Please stay safe and as always, GO COMETS!

Sincerely,

Brittany Fuller Evans
