2014-15 CYH Head Coaches

The Clinton Youth Hockey Board of Directors are thrilled to announce the following Head Coaches for the 2014-15 season.  Our coaches possess a wealth of hockey knowledge and experience, each are fully certified USA Hockey instructors, and they are fully committed to player development in a positive, fun, and challenging environment:


LTS/LTP Coaches:  Coordinator Rob Seymour 

Rob Seymour:  CYH Board Member, former CCS standout defenseman, won NYS Championship as a player, played college hockey at MVCC, former MVCC Head Coach (9 years), 3+ years as CYH coach

Dan Melie:  Clinton native, 15+ years as CYH coach

Mite Coaches:  Coordinator Greg Williams

 Brian Grady:  CYH Board Member, Clinton native, Utica College Assistant Coach (current), former Morrisville State College Head Coach (5 years), Hamilton College Assistant Coach (1 year), University of Maine Assistant Coach (2 years), played college hockey at Hamilton College, 3+ years as CYH coach

Greg Williams:  CYH Board Member, Clinton native, former CCS standout defenseman, 4+ years as CYH coach

Squirt Coaches:  

Travel - Jon Davignon:  CYH Board Member, played college hockey at the Coast Guard Academy, former Connecticut College Assistant Coach (2 years), former Cazenovia High School Head Coach (7 years), won NYS Championship as a coach, 5+ years as CYH Coach

House - Rob Seymour:  CYH Board Member, former CCS standout defenseman, won NYS Championship as a player, played college hockey at MVCC, former MVCC Head Coach (9 years), 3+ years as CYH coach

Pee Wee Coaches:  

Travel - Jeremy Lopata:  Clinton native, former CCS standout forward, played college hockey at Clarkson University, member of the Kirkland Sports Hall of Fame,12+ years as CYH coach

House - Sean McKevitt:  Clinton native, former CCS standout forward, played college hockey at Utica College, 5+ years as CYH coach

Bantam Coaches: 

John Calidonna:  Clinton native, 25+ years as CYH Coach

In addition to our Head Coaches, we have an outstanding group of highly qualified Assistant Coaches with equally impressive coaching and hockey resumes.  Further, CYH will provide opportunities with special guest coaches throughout the season including, but not limited to:  Rob Haberbusch - Hamilton College Men's Hockey Coach, Gary Heenan- Utica College Men's Hockey Coach,  Dave Clausen - Utica College Women's Hockey Coach, Emily McNamara - Hamilton College Women's Hockey Coach, John Hughes - CCS Varsity Coach, former CYH and CCS standout, 20+ years as CYH coach, Nick Palmieri Jr. - Clinton Native, Right Winger, NY Rangers (NHL) & CT Whale (AHL), and Fran Alteri former CYH, CCS, and Geneso State University standout, former CCS Varsity Coach, and member of the Kirkland Sports Hall of Fame, 15+ years as CYH coach

Clinton 4th of July Parade

  As in past years CYH has entered a float in the July 4th parade and we are hoping for a great turnout; especially LTS, LTP, Mites and Squirts (all ages are welcome). Coach Greg Williams will be the main point of contact and the parade starts at 7:00pm so we are asking people to arrive around 6:40pm. We usually start along Elm Street but look for the large hay wagon decorated with the Clinton Hockey banners.

3 p.m. Mite/Squirt session
4 p.m. PeeWee/Bantam session

Clinic runs four sessions for Mite/Squirt and PeeWee/Bantam


·       Designed to improve hockey skill set with focus on shooting, scoring and skating 

·       Each session will run for one hour. Full equipment is required for all participants.

·       Individual goalie instruction with a professional goalie coach for ALL sessions

Hamilton College and Utica College have teamed up with the Shawn Grady Fund for the 2nd installment of it's Gold Ribbon Game

On Friday, Dec. 6th, local rivals Utica College and Hamilton College women’s hockey teams will join forces to raise awareness for childhood cancer. The teams will “go gold” as they face off for the Pioneers’ annual childhood cancer awareness game, held at the Clinton Ice Arena. Both teams will wear collector's edition white, blue, and gold jerseys as they face off in a cross-town match up (7 p.m.). All proceeds from the event will be donated to help ease the medical costs of a local family that is currently dealing with the disease.
Come watch Clinton Youth Hockey Alumni Caitlyn Moccaldi and Mackenzie Roy as their Pioneers take on the Continentals.

Colgate University Skate with the Raiders

Colgate University is hosting a Skate with the Raiders event on Sunday September 29th. The event will take place from 5:30PM-6:30PM at Starr Rink on Colgate University's campus. The event will begin immediately following the women's ice hockey game at 3:00PM. We would like to invite kids of all ages to come on out and participate! They will get free pizza, autographs, to skate with women's and men's student athletes, to skate with Raider, and the event is completely free to the public!

CYH mourns the loss of past coach, board member and president. Don was an avid "self proclaimed" #1 Clinton Hockey Fan. Whether it was a college, high school or youth hockey game, Don was often seen on the rail. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Barrett Family.

FRANK MELIE 1934-2014. CYH mourns the loss of past President and coach Frank Melie. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Melie Family.


CYH MOURNS THE LOSS OF PAST PRESIDENT AND LIFELONG SUPPORTER OF CLINTON HOCKEY A lifelong hockey player and fan, he was a Director of the Clinton Rink Association and a member of the Clinton Youth Hockey Association for over 30 years, where he served as a coach, referee, and several terms as President. He was also the founding President of the Central New York Iroquois League.
